You may think it’s tough to take a loss as a professional football player, but it seems to be even more difficult to take one as a football player’s spouse.
Last year, Tom Brady’s wife (supermodel Gisele Bundchen) did not hold any punches when commenting on the Patriot’s failed attempt at another Super Bowl victory. “My husband can not f------ throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time. I can't believe they dropped the ball so many times,” Gisele said, after the Patriots 21-17 loss against the New York Giants (GIANNTSS!!!).
This year, it is the wife of receiver Wes Welker who had a first class ticket to headline news for her comments following the AFC Championship game.
Instead of dropping one big bomb on the entire team, Anna Burns Welker focused her crosshairs on one player specifically. Anna whipped out her smart phone after the loss against The Ravens on Sunday night, and shared a bit of her Google history with the world. “Proud of my husband and the Pats. By the way, if anyone is bored, please go to Ray Lewis' Wikipedia page. 6 kids 4 wives. Acquitted for murder. Paid a family off. Yay. What a hall of fame player! A true role model!”
Ouch… Anna was quick to delete the Facebook post, but that didn’t stop The Big Show from giving their two cents about Mrs. Welker.
“Ms. Hooters International… she whacked up Ray Lewis pretty good” said Scott. “It doesn’t really make it better, just by adding the word ‘international’…’cause you’re still Ms. Hooters with the owl shirt on.” Todd added.
Aside from “taking back” her shot at Mr. Lewis (which is just about impossible when YOU POST IT ON THE INTERNET!), Anna issued an apology:
"I'm deeply sorry for my recent post on Facebook," she said. "I let the competitiveness of the game and the comments people were making about a team I dearly love get the best of me. My actions were emotional and irrational and I sincerely apologize to Ray Lewis and anyone affected by my comment after yesterday's game.”
Stay tuned for next week’s episode when the Patriots kicker, Stephen Gostkowski complains about the clear coat on his pedicure.
