Who knew wine drinking leads to wining whining; at least it does for a dynamic duo. On camera for their hour segment on the Today Show, chemistry between Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford seems peachy. Everything is not what it seems and there may be claws unleashing behind the scenes in respects to their preferences on where to locate their show.
Tension is boiling hot, as Gifford has been unrelenting on her wish to move their segment to Hollywood while Kotb prefers New York City. This catfight was not always as strained. Sources say that Kotb breathed a sigh of relief when Gifford’s Broadway show opened on the great white way. However, the show closed after a short run in December and Kotb was pressed with L.A. dreams from her co-anchor once again.
Perhaps there has always been competition between the two. Sources say Kotb initially became ticked off when Gifford did not promote her book on air.
There has been a tentative compromise for now. Their show will film for a few weeks in New York and others in Hollywood. The source says “Kathie Lee is unbending – she wants to make the move.”
Kotb plans to have projects outside of “Today” and the move to La La Land would only be probable if she were to get contracts out there. Until then, Ernest Heminway was correct in saying that wine is the most civilized thing in the world.
